Reflection: I believe this statement is true. Coward people are afraid so they're always wondering if it's safe for them. If it's not they probably won't do it. Like trying to succeed, if they think it's better to just play it safe and not take a risk. Expediency think if it's inconvenient in any way, they're not gonna try or try to be immoral to get what they want, etc. Although, they know it's not right to be immoral in any way and have to do things the right and proper way. Vanity take pride in appearance and such things. If it isn't popular, they're going to stay away from it. If being a bum and doing drugs and such is cool, they'll do that. Instead of trying to succeed and do what's better for them and their future, they rather do what's popular. But, your conscience will always tell you what's right. Your conscience doesn't care whether what you wish to do is popular or not, it will tell you to do what's right. Always listen to your conscience because no matter the situation it will tell you to do what's right. Choose the right and listen to your conscience and you will succeed.

Psychologist

Duties and Responsibilities:

Psychologists study the behavior and actions of people to understand, explain, and change their behavior patterns. They also provide counseling and therapy to those with emotional, learning, and behavior problems. Psychologists work in schools, clinics, hospitals, and private practice. They can specialize in clinical, educational, quantitative, development, social, experimental, and industrial organization psychology. Their duties often include:

·         Diagnosing and treating problems.

·         Interviewing and observing patients.

·         Developing, selecting, and administering tests.

·         Counseling patients, groups, and families.

·         Developing mental health programs/

·         Conducting research and teaching.

Average Salary: $45,000 - $65,000

Educational Requirements:

Students should prepare for a career in psychology by taking the most challenging (AP or IB) high school courses available, especially in English and science.

Licensed psychologists must earn a Ph.D. in psychology. Admission to graduate programs is usually dependent on the quality of undergraduate performance in a psychology major. Clinical psychologists must complete a two-year supervised internship after earning their doctorate and pass oral and written state qualifying exams.

Reflection: I would like to be a psychologist because I have an interest in this field of work.

Industrial Hygienist

Duties and Responsibilities:

Industrial hygienists evaluate health hazards, conduct health risk assessments, manage industrial or business health programs, and provide consultation. They may be administrators, researchers, consultants, or teachers. Many work as part of an industrial or government team, although some have practices. Industrial hygienists often:

·         Collect samples and perform laboratory analyses.

·         Check worker exposure to radiation, vibrations, and noise.

·         Calibrate equipment.

·         Investigate possible health hazards.

·         Conduct epidemiological research.

·         Instruct employees on injury prevention techniques.

Average Salary: $40,000- $60,000

Educational Requirements:

Students should take challenging college preparatory courses, especially in mathematics and science, during high school.

A career in industrial hygiene requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health engineering, or the physical sciences. Many jobs require certification and/or a Master’s Degree in these, or related, fields. Certification requires successful completion of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene examination.

Reflection: I guess I wouldn’t mind being an industrial hygienist. You help make places safer and stuff so yeah.

Home Health Aide

Duties and Responsibilities:

Home health aides work for companies that provide in-home assistance to ill, injured, elderly, or disabled patients. Their duties include taking the blood pressure, temperature, and pulse of patients. They help patients get in and out of bed, take baths, and dress. They also prepare and serve meals and also perform housekeeping chores like making beds and cleaning rooms.

Average Salary: $8,000 - $18,000

Educational Requirements:

Most employers prefer that nursing assistants and aides have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Some vocational schools and community colleges offer training programs.

Reflection:

I would like to be a home health aide. I enjoy taking care of people when they’re sick but I wouldn’t want to do that for the rest of my life.

Healthcare Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities:

Healthcare administrators direct and manage hospitals and other healthcare facilities. They are responsible for long-range planning, financial administration, personnel administration materials management, purchasing, public affairs and patient administration.

Small hospitals may have only one administration, while larger facilities may have quite a few more. Some administrators specialize in specific fields like patient administration or purchasing.

Health care administrators also work in HMOs, health agencies, clinics, or for private practices.

Average Salary: $35,000- $100,000

Educational Requirements:

Students should take challenging high school courses in business, science, math and English.

Most healthcare administrators have master’s degrees in healthcare administration or business administration.

Reflection:

I don’t think I’d like to be a healthcare administrator because it sounds like a lot of paper work and you have to administer other people and I don’t really like doing that.

Histology Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities:

Histology Specialist includes Histology Technicians and Histologist. Both histologic technicians and histologists prepare tissue samples that are used by physicians to determine if a patient has a disease, dysfunction or malignancy.

Histology Technicians and histologist prepare samples by using equipment to thinly slice tissue samples. They then put the slices on microscope slides and use chemicals to stain them so important structures are visible.

Histologists perform more complex and advanced procedures than technicians and often also perform management functions.

Histology specialists work in hospitals, veterinary, pharmacies, or research laboratories.

Average Salary:

$22,000-$35,000 (Histologic Technicians)

$30,000-$50,000 (Histologists)

Educational Requirements:

Students should take the most challenging high school courses in science, math and English.

To become a histologic technician, students must either earn an Associate’s Degree in the field and complete a one year internship or complete a long-term training program in a histopathology lab.

To become a histologist, students must either earn a Bachelor’s Degree that includes a one year clinical internship or complete a long-term training program in a histopathology lab.

Both Histologic Technicians and Histologist need to pass a national examination.

I think I might like to be a histology Specialist, it seems like a very interesting job. You get to examine parasites and such and that seems like a cool job to have.

Health Science Librarian

Duties and Responsibilities:

Health Science Librarian and Librarian technicians collect and organize medical information and help practitioners find the information they need for patient care, education, research, and administration.

Librarians acquire books, journals, and other materials.  They also establish electronic and digital information systems.

They organize this information into collections and develop catalogs for access and provide reference assistance to people.

Average Salary:

$20,000-$30,000 (Librarian Technicians)

$35,000-$55,000 (Librarians)

Educational Requirements:

Students should take challenging high school courses in information management, science, math and English.

Health science library technicians’ training varies by employer. Some provide on the job training, but all prefer that students complete library technician programs at a community college or technical school. Associate’s degrees can be earned in these programs.

Health Science Librarians should earn an undergraduate degree in one of the life sciences and must earn a master's degree in library science from a program that is accredited by the American Library Association. 

I believe that I would not like to be a health science technician. I do not like the things required for this job, like recording information and doing research for certain subjects that I do not find interesting. It also seems kind of boring in my opinion.

Health Information Specialists

Duties and Responsibilities:

Health Information Specialists obtain post and analyze medical, workload insurance information. They ensure that this information is properly recorded into medical records so practitioners can plan and evaluate health care provided to patients.

There are a variety of jobs in this field that include Registered Record Administrators, Accredited Record Technicians, and Certified Coding Specialists. Administrators coordinate the various information management responsibilities. Record technicians make sure medical records are accurate and coordinate. Coding specialists assign and post correct diagnosis.

Average Salary:

$20,000 - $25,000 (Coding Specialists)

$23,000 - $30,000 (Record Technicians) 

$30,000 - $40,000 (Record Administrators)

Educational Requirements:

Students should take high school courses in business, information management, science, math and English.

Coding specialists need a GED or high school diploma.

Accredited record technicians need to have an associate’s degree form a credited college program or from the American Health Information Management Association Independent Study Program.

Record administrators must complete a bachelor's degree program in the field and pass a certification examination.

I don’t think I’d like to be a health information specialist. It requires a lot of writing and that sounds boring. I don’t want to be sitting a desk filling papers.

I don't think I'd like to be a health educator. It requires teaching people stuff and I'm very impatient when it comes to teaching others something that's sort of complicated. I have a feeling I'd get frustrated easily.

Genetic Counselor

A genetic counselor is defined as the understanding and adaption to the medical and psychological implications of genetic contributions to disease. Genetic Counselors work with patients who have genetic or inherited, disorders or birth defects. They also work with people who are at risk for these issues. Genetic counselors often:

I might like to become a genetic counselor. It seems interesting because you learn of new disorders and get to help people who are confused about what they have.

I do not think I'd like to be a environmental health specialist because it's not really in my interest. It sounds like a good job to have although, because it is important to take care of the environmental but i don't think it's something I'd like to do for a life time.

I think it'd be kinda cool to be a emergency medical technician, but I don't think I'd like to be one. It's a lot of pressure. A person's life depends on you. You have to be very careful but at the same time you have to be really quick and efficient about everything you do. A simple mistake could cost a persons life

Dialysis Technicians operate machines that remove waste and excess fluids from the blood of patients whose kidneys can no longer carry out those functions. Dialysis technicians are also referred to as a renal dialysis technicians, hemodialysis technicians, or nephrology technicians.
