Reflection: I think this quote is saying that some people cannot handle certain hardships. People get tired of it and just give up without even trying but it causes other people, stronger people to pursue those hardships and try even harder and maybe even over achieve. For example, if you failed most of your classes throughout high school, some people might give up and dropout but it might cause others to bust their butt and pass all their classes in adult school or continuation school.
